Letter sent by CT Ramage to his mother, started in Castelamare on 23 October 1825 and continued in Naples on 27 October 1825. Writes of his relief upon hearing that his mother is recovering from ill health. Details a first 'dinner in the Italian fashion' including oysters ('which I detest particularly'), spinach and butter ('which was odd enough to me'), fish, and concluding with sweet meats, cheese and fruit; cards, dance and music followed dinner. Details his living arrangements in Naples ('there is no danger of my being suffocated') and a visit onboard HMS Revenge with Sir H Lushington.
