This etching is included in the Earl of Crawford's second volume of Fowler's prints, which contained sixty-two prints reproducing stained glass windows. The volume was published by William Fowler in 1804, thanks to the sponsorship of Joseph Banks.

This plate is part of a series of nine etchings reproducing the Norman Earls of Chester and Saxon Earls of Mercia from the stained glass windows at Aston Hall, Birmingham. This specific series was dedicated to Heneage Legge, owner of Aston Hall.
