Rectangular wooden printing block showing:-
Obverse: carved and engraved design depicting sixteenth century ivory essence box; showing the unscrewed lid at the top; the rounded shape of the box beneath this, with five central compartments in its top surface; and a glass phial to the side from one of these compartments. Signed 'Praetorius' along the underside of the box. Ink residue remaining on surface.
Reverse: engraver's stamp on surface, obscured by traces of printer's waste paper.
