Obverse: carved and engraved design depicting Latin inscription from a tombstone on the Roman wall in Deva (Chester), in five lines; featuring a dedication to Gaius Iulius Severus, cavalryman of the 20th legion, who died at 40. Ink residue remaining on surface.
