Obverse: carved and engraved design depicting a reproduction of a woodcut illustration from an 18th century broadside, originally from 1715; showing an arched architectural feature containing two intertwined letter 'C's among floral motifs; two heads on poles stood on the arch, with the names 'Perkins and Sullivan' either side and between the poles, representing Temple Bar on the old Paternoster Row in the City of London. Image reproduced from a series of sheets containing a satirical imagined dialogue between two executed individuals, Sir William Perkins and Major Sullivan, titled 'Perkins against Perkin; a dialogue between Sir Wm Perkins and Major Sullivane, the two loggerheads on Temple-Bar concerning the present juncture of affairs...'. Printed in London by J. Baker. Ink residue remaining on surface.
