Two Battle axes found in a Moss near Terreagles, the seat of Marmaduke Maxwell Constable Esq of Nithsdale -
They are very much Corroded with Rust, and are the only Specimens (that I have heard of,) of the old Galwegian Bill or Battle ax, found in that Country; They are above an Inch thick on the Back, Gradually tapering to the Edge - and seem to have been similar to the ancient Bills.
