In 1797, the Body of Roman Catholics at Newcastle upon Tyne, wishful of having a larger Chapel, Sold their Priests House, Chapel and Premises to Mr. John Bell, Landsurveyor, (my father) the front House of which property had been the Town Residence of the Radclyffe Family of Dilston Northumberland, Earls of Darwentwater [sic], to which the Chapel was attached, and in the window of a small room adjoining were several panes of Coloured Glass with the Armorial [sic] Ensigns of the Radclyffes, and their alliances, which I took out, and amongst others the above pane
