Specimens of Pyramidical Forms of Canopies over niches, slightly sketched from a variety of Designs of different Dates
Presented to the Society of Antiquries of London December 15th 1803 - by John Adey Repton Esq. F.S.A.
N.B. I, II, III, IV, and V are the pointed Forms, which most generally prevailed in our English Architecture from the beginning of the Reign of Henry 3rd to the end of Richard 2nd. In Figures VI, VII, VIII, and IX, These pyramidical Forms are seen departing from the straight Line and varied to different forms of Curves; these most generally occurred from the Reign of Edward the 2nd to the time of Henry the 5th or even down to the period of Henry the 7th or 8th, in which last the form, Fig. IX is more generally found.
