Object history note

Worked by William and Jane Morris for their bedroom at Red House. The design was the basis for painted tiles sold by Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co and for Morris's 'Daisy' wallpaper circa 1864.

    Wall hanging 'Daisy', designed by William Morris c. 1860. The design was based on a motif visible in an illumination in a 15th century manuscript by Froissart, 'The Dance of the Wodehouses'. One of a set of hangings designed for the master bedroom at Red House. Coloured wools on dark blue woollen serge ground.
