Scope and content
Description by HS London of an illuminated pedigree of the Griffith family of Burton Agnes, East Yorkshire, with a note by Francis Thynne, Lancaster Herald, dated 1 August 1604.
The pedigree was lent by Capt. Marcus Wickham-Boynton, descendant of the Griffiths of Wychnor, Staffordshire, and Burton Agnes, for exhibition at Society of Antiquaries, 8 January 1948 (Antiquaries Journal, 28 (1948), 113). The original is illustrated by painted figures of knights, shields, drawings of seals on charters.
This description was completed by HS London, 10 January 1948 (fol. 5v); it is accompanied by three photographs of sections of the pedigree.
