Scope and content
Hardback notebook containing histories and descriptions of portable altars, or 'superaltars', from both England as well as Germany and France. There are some excerpts from Apollo: A Journal of the Arts, Vols. XII & XIII, which include printed images of some of the elaborate continental superaltars, and there are a number of rubbings, photographs and drawings included. There is also a detailed description of a silver superaltar associated with the Londesborough collection.
