Scope and content
Envelopes arranged alphabetically by town within Shropshire containing research notes on subjects relating to altars, including notes on an ancient altar cloth discovered in Alveley, as well as relevant quotations from published literature. Some contain handwritten descriptions of altars or specific features while others include sketches, with dimensions given for some examples. There are also photographs showing a wooden altar from Cleobury Mortimer and a sculpture of the trinity at Kinlet along with descriptions of altar canopies, including the one at Clun Church, Salop and a handwritten, through description of the Ludlow Colligate Church.
