'A Collection of Inscriptions from Coffin Plates & Motto Rings ... B.Longmate' (fol. iii); 18th century, with additions to 1825 (p.207). Partly compiled by Barak Longmate, genealogist and heraldic engraver (1738-93). The arrangement is roughly chronological. The collection opens with transcripts of the coffin plate of George II, 1760, followed by those of other members of the royal family to 1783 (including Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester, d. 1660); and continues with entries mostly relating to the aristocracy and gentry. The plate of Barak Longmate, senior (d. 1764), p. 141, and that of Barak Longmate, the engraver (d. 1793), p. 190; other family entries, pp. 135, 137,142. Index, pp.211-29.
