Scope and content
Depictions of fonts from different parts of England, especially (but not exclusively) from Cornwall, Devon and Shropshire. Most of the fonts are found in parish churches but there are also depictions of fonts – their form and decoration – from France Germany and Sweden (Hömso). There are depictions of font covers, especially that found in Sudbury, Suffolk.
Media Include: printed illustrations of fonts (engravings and drawings), printed texts about certain fonts taken from books and journals which have been glued into the album, handwritten notes and letters, hand-drawn sketches tinted with watercolour, hand-drawn pen and ink sketches.
