Scope and content
Pen and ink and pencil sketches with watercolour on paper.

Sketches of Ireland dated 1836, with the exception of the sketch of Beach Grove house near Cabinteely, County Dublin, which is dated 1849. At the back of the volume are sketches from 1834-1847 of the Isle of Man.

a) Ireland
Themes: archaeological finds, including ancient buildings, construction sites and tools; buildings in the landscape, including churches, chapels and castles; tomb monuments in churches; rural and urban landscapes; standing crosses and stones.

b) Isle of Man
Themes: archaeological finds, including ancient constructions and tools; buildings in the landscape, including churches and chapels; monuments and inscriptions; standing crosses and stones.
