Scope and content
Founded in 1818, the ICBS was the principal voluntary Society for promoting the building and restoration of Anglican Churches throughout England and Wales. The administration of the society was transferred in 1982 to the Historic Churches Preservation Trust, which has now been succeeded by the National Churches Trust. The majority of the ICBS archive, containing records from 1818 up to 1982, was deposited at Lambeth Palace Library. However, 433 of the church plans were given to the Society of Antiquaries in 1889.

Lambeth Palace Library have catalogued the ICBS archive and digitised 12,000 church plans, including those held at the Society of Antiquaries. The images of the plans and other visual items are available online at http://images.lambethpalacelibrary.org.uk. To view images of the plans held by the Society enter 'Society of Antiquaries of London' in the search box at the top right of the screen.

The Society retains the copyright of its images.
