1. Notes, mainly from publications; also a pencil draft headed 'The extraction of Ag. From Pb. In Japan' (possibly relating to Gowland's article 'Japanese Metallurgy. - Part I. - Gold and silver and their alloys', Journal of the Society of Chemical Industry, 15 (1896), pp 404-12)
2. Cuttings:
- cutting quoting a report by Consul Cottrell, 9 May. On 'The Mining industry of the Cyclades, Greece', The Mining J[ournal and Commer]cial Gazette, [date not shown], pp 61-62. 2 sheets.
- 'Provisional Report' of the Proceedings of the Royal Society, Ordinary Meeting 13 December 1917, including a paper read by Professor B Moore 'the formation of nitrites from nitrates in aqueous solution …'.
3. Report of a silver horse shoe:
Card folder, on which are mounted two photographs and a printed account by Revd W Iago, Honorary Local Secretary of the Society of Antiquaries, 1891, of a solid silver horse shoe found recently by tin-streamers on the land of George Bellamy in Cornwall, inviting suggestions on its age - marked 'Rec[eive]d 16 June 1891'.
Loose in folder, letter from Iago to the Secretary, Society of Antiquaries, 12 June 1891, enclosing rubbings of both side of the horseshoe, and asking if any similar finds have been recorded.
Loose in folder, letter from Iago to [the same], in response to a reply [not present] questioning if the object is truly silver, with his explanation that it has been examined by a number of local experts who had verified it, although noting that 'Messrs Franks and Evans are quite right not to give an opinion before they have full information'.
