Papers, loose within the green folder:

1. List of the members of the Stonehenge Committee, 1901. 1 sheet.

2. Notes, on sheets of varying sizes, all in Gowland's hand: six sheets of lists of preparations for the excavation, and two listing expenses totalling a little of £50.
8 sheets, two on the back of pieces of an undated and unidentified blueprint.

3. Notes concerning excavations at the bases of various stones which are 'to be jacketed and shored up', with amounts of concrete which will be required.
1 sheet, on the back of an undated and unidentified blueprint - see also GOW/01/08/02.

4. Tabular record of finds [in 1901], with no general heading, but a note 'Chips and objects found in or near rabbit burrows not included. The numbers indicate the layer in which they occurred': rows for Excavations I-VIII and Q; columns for stone types, implements, bones, coins, pottery and metals, with a final column at far right for 'rabbit burrows'.

5. An early draft on tracing paper mounted on squared paper, of the plan of the excavations around Stone 56, which appeared as fig 7, p 46, in Archaeologia 58. Now noted in pencil on the back 'EH (2020)-8'.

6. List of material required, mainly stationery. 1 sheet.

5. Detailed drawing, 'A section of rampart ditch', ink with pencil labelling. 1 sheet.
This is undated and unsigned. Although typical of drawings made by or for Gowland, it is unlikely to relate to his activities in 1901, which did not include the ditch. The ditch was part of the planned programme of excavation in 1919. This diagram is not the same as that in the first report of Hawley's excavations: Antiquaries Journal 1 (1921), fig 12 , p 35.
