Carved wood Misericord seat. A central figure under a tree, bearded with long hair, and positioned astride a lion, pulling the lion's jaws apart. The figure is not holding up the ledge, being separated from it by the tree, a device which focuses attention on his strength in relation to the lion. The side carvings depict foliage. Representation of a scene from the biblical story of Samson.
