Diary of travels to and within Holland with his bicycle, including visits to Goor, Zutphen, Apeldoorn, Amersfoort, Naarden, Amsterdam (Rijksmuseum, Paleis voor Volksvlijt). Includes notes on local customs, accommodation and food, as well as miscellaneous points of interest e.g. an ‘automatic egg-laying hen’ [egg-vending machine], drawings of machinery operated by washer women and Bentheim Castle, as well as a blue ink print of an unidentified building.
Notes from visits to the British Museum and the Society of Antiquaries of London, including from ‘Dr Raine’s interleaved St Cuthbert’, the Lindisfarne Gospels (with JTF’s drawings of water staining), the Kaye Collection, [John?] Carter’s drawings. Annotated drawings of the stained glass at St Martin-le-Grand (Coney Street, York).
