Part 1 of 3 bound volumes relating to monumental brasses in Essex, this comprising a single bound volume of handwritten notes arranged in alphabetical order (A-E) of place names, with short preface and index with numbered pages. Generally includes a description of the brass, its location, size and inscription. Comprises a compilation from various sources. Commences with a list of descriptions of the arms of families on the brasses mentioned in the Essex volumes. Includes many separately adhered rubbings, drawings and printed plates. Also a sketch pedigree of the Barrington family of Barrington Hall. Includes separately adhered article regarding Archbishop Harsnett (Chigwell). Sketch pedigree showing the connection of the De La Poles with the Cobham family of Kent. Hand drawn pedigree of the Mildmay family (Danbury). [2 loose pages and rubbing].
