This small notebook is titled Inventory of a miscellaneous collection of impressions of Medieval Seals, in the Museum of the Society of Antiquaries of London. It has an opening dedication by Way stating 'This inventory was compiled whilst I was Director of the Society, as a first step towards a Classified Catalogue of Medieval Seals, of which at that time scarcely any collections existed in this country. The intention was to have produced a descriptive Catalogue, as a supplement to my Catalogue of the Miscellaneous Antiquities in possession of the Society'. The notes evidence Way's review of Meeting Minutes from the early 1700s until the 1840s, and correspondence, relating to impressions of seals. Some looseleaf papers inserted at the back of the notebook include drawings and printed images. Way's stated intention was the create from the inventory a catalogue to supplement his Catalogue of Antiquities, coins, pictures and miscellaneous curiosities in the possession of the Society of Antiquaries of London 1847: compiled form the minutes of the Society's Proceedings (1847).
