Storia di Nettuno scritta dal Sigre. Abbate Bartolomeo Soffredini Nettunese' (fol. iv); heading (fol. 1) 'Nettuno, e Porto d'Anzo'. History of Nettuno in the Roman campagna and the port of Anzio (Antium) by Bartolomeo Soffredini; 18th century. Italian. According to fol. 25 the history was written for private study 'sol per studio privato, e per amor della Patria'. It covers the Roman history and antiquities of the area, and summarises main events during the middle ages and up to the time of the writer. The date '1734' with the comment 'a giorno nostri' is given on fol. 22. The author was born in Nettuno in 1707 and served as internunzio in Brussels during the pontificate of Clement XIII. He compiled his historical memoirs in 1772 according to his great-nephew, Calcedonio Soffredini, who acknowledged them as a primary source for his Storia di Anzio, Satrico, Asturo e Nettuno (Rome, 1879) and gave an account of Bartolomeo Soffredini (p. 175).
