Vellum; ff. i + 236 (see also the contemporary roman foliation, in disorder). Quarto. Leather, brown (rebacked), blind-stamped, by an unidentified binder 'F. D.', mid 16th century (see J. B. Oldham, English Blind-Stamped Bindings (1952), 32, pl.xxix). Modern green slipcase. Tipped in at the front a letter from W. T. Mellors of Peterborough, 10 Sept. 1923, giving references for John Achirche.

Register of John Achirche containing charters and other evidences relating to Peterborough Abbey, including copies of some royal documents, and miscellaneous material; mid 14th century.

Now bound in disorder. Late 14th-century table, fols. 3v-6v, shows the original order. Small red and blue decorated initials throughout; portrait of Wulfhere, King of Mercia, fol. 205. Penwork heads added, fols. 159v-170; for similar heads see the pedigree roll, illustrated by a Peterborough monk, described in the Ancestor, 11 (1904), 158-60 (now BL Add. MS. 47170). (Inf. John A.
