Illustrative material including engravings, lithographs, drawings, w/cols, etc., maps and plans, mostly relating to Windsor, Eton, Bray and Cookham. Includes a series of engravings, some coloured, after P. Sandby (1812); a number of original w/cols and oil paintings by Bromet; Tombleson's Panoramic Map of the Thames and Medway [1850]; and Studies of Landscapes by T. Gainsborough.. (and others) 'Imitated from the Originals by L. Francia' (1810). Also included is a fine series of copies, red crayon and colour wash, of wallpaintings, late 12th century, in St Mary's church, Guildford (now mostly lost, cf. N. Pevsner, Surrey, 274), with related notes. These may be the series exhibited by E. J. Carlos to SA, 9 Feb. 1837 (Archaeologia, 27 (1838), 413-14; see also ibid., 49 (1886), 199-212).
